Owners and more importantly Residents (Owners or Tenants) should be aware that Essential Energy or their contractors are responsible for energising / de-energising power to an Apartment.  Work Orders are sent through from your selected retailer.

    Connections

Retailers will regularly ask (or advise) that the meter box needs to be accessible to connect power for an Apartments.  Depending upon your Apartment Block the location will be different.  Meter boxes / rooms are located as follows:

    • Block A - In a basement carpark switch-room adjacent to the A Block lift
    • Block B - In Meter Boxes at the Eastern end of Block B
    • Block C - In Meter Boxes at the Western end of Block C
    • Block D - In a basement switch-room to the left of the basement down ramp (under Block D)

Block B & C Meter Boxes may simply be opened to access some elements.  Blocks A & D require access to the basement - keys to the stairwells and switch-rooms is held in a key lock box at the western end of Block C.  The lock on the box may be opened by authorised electrical contractors only.  These details are held on the Electricity Supply Industry National Database.

It is noted that most contractors arranging connections know how to access the lock box.

When arranging connections please ensure you advise your retailer of the access arrangements.

NOTE:  When energising a circuit for a connection, if a fault is detected by the contractor, the main power for the Apartment will be left off.  Generally they either leave a card in the meter box or sometimes actually place it in the Apartment mailbox.  In order to power up the circuit it may be necessary to get a qualified electrician to resolve the problem and switch on the power.

    Disconnections

Some of these disconnections are automatically undertaken due to non-payment of an account.

If you are arranging for a final read and disconnect then please advise your retailer of the access arrangements covered under Connections above.
