A number of Owners and Residents have expressed their concern and confusion over the forthcoming lift security system upgrade. I, and I am sure the full Strata Committee, shares the same concerns. In response to these concerns Civium was asked, several days, to explain what was going on? A follow up e-mail was sent on the morning of Tues, 24 November 21. To say the least a confusing and less than satisfactory response was received – some of which was better clarified by our prime contractor CXI (who through no fault of their own have been trying to complete the installation since February 21).
Given the response received from Civium, a detailed e-mail was sent to Civium this morning. This is available to Owners only under the Documents page of this site.
Non-resident Owners in A and D Blocks should be aware that the new system is not live and any fobs you have received will have no functionality until an agreed “go live” date is set AND all Owners and Residents have been advised. This will not happen until a substantial number of fobs have been distributed and in the hands of Residents affected. After the system goes live the old Schindler Lift Swipes may be disposed as they serve no further purpose.
A key change with the new system is that the fobs call the lift and allow access to the lift cabin – once in the cabin you can travel to any floor. This is designed to reduce vandalism attacks to the lift cabin internals – it will not completely eliminate this problem. In addition, the “free and unfettered access” that has occurred over the last five years with past residents continuing to hold swipes will vanish. Free access to all floors simplifies the process for lift users, aloso allowing floor to floor movement if visiting others. Free access to floors takes into account that all lift users with the old swipes could still access any floor via the stairwell – so we had no real security in this area – only what was perceived by users.
This web-site will continue to keep Residents and Owners up to date of developments.
