The ACT Region and surrounds suffered a major storm event on the evening of 18 December 2021 causing:
- flooding
- water damage from roof leaks or damage
- smoke alarms being set off, etc
Sunrise Apartments was not left untouched. Our basement was affected with the sumps filling to over capacity and causing some low level flooding in the B Block basement. Fortunately our plumbers had just cleared the critical sumps and replaced a failed pump on Friday, 17 December 2021. A report and pictures received advised that all sump pumps were working to very hard and alarms were going off. It is understood the alarm has returned to flashing red. This will be checked tomorrow (Monday 20 December 2021).
It has also been reported that the garage door is stuck in the open position. Again this will be checked tomorrow and we will see if we can get this addressed before Christmas. Power issues may have caused the issue.
If your smoke alarm has gone off and not been able to be reset you may need to get it checked and replaced. Owners this is your responsibility. Tenants should report issues to their Property Manager.
Residents and Owners are asked to report any water issues to Civium immediately and we will see if we can get them addressed prior to Christmas. Tenants can also report directly; howev er, you Property manager should be advised. Please note water under front doors will not be addressed given the severity of the storm – if carpet is damaged as a result of water ingress under front doors then Owners should look to their contents insurance and the installation (or replacement) of weather stripping at the bottom of the door.
Given the proximity to Christmas – lodging a report TODAY (Sunday, 19 December 2021) is recommended.
