Recently if was reported that Origin Energy are sending out “estimated readings” on their invoices. This may apply to other energy retailers. The reason given is that the meter reader was unable to access meters (most probably in A & D Blocks).
Residents are advised that changes to meter box security were advised, by Civium Strata (in writing and by phone), to Essential Energy and Origin Energy (around a month ago). The Electricity Industry maintains a national database that records meter location, access and any other pertinent information for a property. As a Resident, if you are concerned by your electricity retailer doing “estimated readings” please contact them directly and advise them that the indistry has been advised of the changes and they should refer to the national database.
